Well, as some of you know. Marc and I met a LONG time ago. I was 21 and he was well … not 21. Imagine meeting someone on a soccer field. We both were referees in Mesquite and would laugh and joke whenever we were assigned games together. Years went on and we saw each other at the fields every weekend and the occasional weeknight.
One weekend after we finished games for the day, Marc and his son Kody asked if I would like to go grab a bite to eat. We went to a Mexican restaurant in Mesquite. We had a good time, or at least I thought we did, but then I never heard from him.
The next Soccer season started and we again had our normal Start of season meeting at the fields. Marc talked to me after the meeting and asked for my number. (I found out later that Kody pushed him into doing this) He texted me later that night and we talked and texted for a few days. On September 17, 2015 when I got off work, I went to donate blood. Marc was texting and asked if I wanted to go to the gun range with him and Kody. They were already there when I arrived. We shot guns the rest of the night. The next evening Kody wanted to go out on the boat with his friend and Marc invited me to go along. From then on, we saw each other almost every night.
Marc asked me to move in with him so that we could see each other more and he wouldn’t have to worry about me driving so far home late at night. From then on, we did almost everything together, I even got him to join my softball team. One evening while the couple was at Jennifer’s parents’ house Marc was approached by Jennifer’s dad and was asked when he was planning to marry his daughter. So much for Marc having to ask for her dad’s permission. Almost a year after they moved into together. Marc’s daughter Rani asked to move in with them. They were hesitant at first because they did not have space in their apartment, but circumstances happened and she moved in about a month before the lease was up. After a few weeks, Marc worked up the courage to bring Jennifer to the Harbor on Lake Ray Hubbard and ask her to be his wife. Marc’s daughter Rani was there with a camera in hand ready to take the newly engaged couples picture. After this they knew it was time to get serious about a new place to live. With nowhere to go Jennifer’s parents offered them to live with them until they could find a place of their own. Jennifer filled out all the paperwork to get Rani enrolled in school and they moved in with Jennifer’s parents two weeks after the school year had started. It was an adjustment at first, but it was good to have everyone with a bedroom to themselves. Little did they know that they were helping Jennifer’s mom out at the same time. Jennifer and the rest of the family cooks, cleans and makes sure that her mom is well taken care of and does what she needs to help whenever they can.
